Boys day off...

One of the guys I hang out with (the senior citizen of the group), Dr Rusick, had his 48th birthday this weekend, so to celebrate, we went up to Payson to play golf at Chaparral Pines. An executive of my company owns a home up there, and was gracious enough to get us on (it's a private course). The course was beautiful, and we had a great time....and didn't get into too much trouble. :-)

Courtney's 6th birthday!

Courtney had a great B-Day. It started with a party in her Kindergarden classroom, and was followed up that night with a Swim party at our house with her closest 20 friends. It was a ZOO! But she had a great time...which my wife tells me "is all that matters".

Me and my girlfriend Reese, dancing the night away by the pool.

Cassidy's baptismal weekend...

Our little girl is growing up too fast. This weekend Cassidy was baptized. We were so proud of her decision, and how she prepared herself for this special day. Almost all of the Bates family was in attendance, and it was nice to be able to have Grandpa & Grandma Draper in town for the occasion as well.

Some pictures of Cassidy on the Mesa temple grounds.

Fun trip to Nebraska!

Although Nebraska was definitely a midwest town (see previous post), we actually had a really good time there over Labor Day weekend with Kimberly's brother Quinn and his family (Amy, Makayla, Dylan, Allie, & Lance). They were awesome hosts...and kept us entertained non-stop. Lincoln was actually an incredibly beautiful place to visit.

Winter Quarters & Temple

The reason Quinn & Amy are in Lincoln is because Quinn is finishing up his 32 & 33rd year of school (he has 1 year left to become an Orthodontist). We got a personal tour of the facilities...I have to admit, it was pretty impressive.

One of the days we were there, it rained like crazy! Us AZ kids didn't know what to do with ourselves. The kids had a blast.

Quinn & Kimberly posing

This was a fun little toy - Courtney, Cassidy & Makayla pictured below

There's a funny story behind this picture, but you'll have to ask Quinn what happened.

One of the highlights of the week was going with Quinn to the opening game of the Cornhuskers season. It was INSANE! I have never seen fans like those in Lincoln.

Good times at the Nebraska State Fair.

How can you tell you're in Nebraska?

One of the "toys" for kids to play with is a fake cow / utter. How fast can you fill up the bucket?

This event is called "Dock Dogs". I know, I had never heard of it either. The goal is to get your dog running as fast as possible to the end of the dock, and have him jump as far / high as he can into the water. The dog who jumps the furthest / highest wins.

I didn't think this really happened...I thought it was just an urban myth.

They're fast little pieces of bacon (notice the hottie cheerleader with the pom-pons).

I've never been to a sporting event quite like this. If you weren't wearing Red, White or Black - I think the hillbillies would have LITERALLY kicked the crap out of you!

Cool Barns...

Mode of transportation for poor people.

Mode of transportation for rich people.

This one takes the cake! It is a homeless-looking guy who believes he is the "shepherd" of this flock of geese. He dresses them up, feeds them caffinated drinks, and has a name for each one of them. It was quite the site to behold.

GOT MILK?!

Now that's gotta hurt! All you nursing mothers out there are cringing, aren't you?

I've always been fond of the mammaries...
